Whilst I agree that you don’t want to think technique whilst playing but at the end of the day, you have to know what it is that you do or should be doing. This is why you need to get a swing system so that you can follow the map and if you detour you can readily get back on track. You buy it for yourself on the practice fairway and if you record the feel you generated at the end of every session, you will avoid cul de sacs along ‘the way’.
golf is a game of finding it and losing it. no one is on all the time, you just keep working at it and enjoy it when its good.
Write down all of the basic things to do while making your swing, and when your doing bad look at it… For me, i have a booklet i have in my bag and tells me for example point club toe up in backswing and follow through and to make sure i have the right grip. Sometimes i forget just the basic things and i dont have anyone to be there and tell me what i do wrong so i just do that and it works! Hope this helped
Take some time off and clear your head or get a club pro too look at it.
Yup, we’ve all had those days, so I sympathize. Nothing is going right and it just seems to get worse as the round continues. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying "golf is 90% mental 10% physical." It tends to be very true. If you find yourself not playing well during a round there are somethings you can do to try to limit your mistakes. First give yourself the most room for error. On short par 4′s and par 5′s tee off with a wood or iron instead of a driver. It should help you keep it on the fairway. Lay-up on the par 5′s instead of trying to reach the green in 2. Aim for the center of the green instead of firing at the pin. If you’re not striking the ball well don’t try to figure out what’s wrong with your swing mechanics. Focus on keeping the lower body quiet it helps limit the mistakes your body can make. When you grip the club try to feel the club in your fingertips so you don’t grip the club too tight. Try to stay calm and maintain your tempo. And always keep you pre-shot routine the same, it should help keep you from rushing.
The mental aspects of the game can be the biggest hazard a player may face. If you feel like you’re going to hit the shot poorly or am too focused on all the different aspects of your swing mechanics you will hit a poor shot. But if you truely feel you’re going to hit a good shot, you tend to hit the good shot. Don’t think about the mistakes you’ve made just focus at the shot at hand. I had a lesson with my instructor and he told me a few things. I hit a few bad shots and he asked me what I was thinking. I told him I was thinking about my wrist cock position then the rotation of my right over left. Then I hit some solid clean shots, when he asked me again what I was thinking I said "nothing." Confidence is really the key to hitting good shots.
Finally try to avoid going to the range after a bad round and just "whack away" on buckets of balls. You’re probably angry and tired. Hitting buckets of balls will do more bad than good. You’re muscles are tired and making a good swing will be difficult. You’ll give yourself bad muscle memory and add to your frustration. Just go home or have a drink with friends and remember tomorrow is a new day. Try to remember that golf is supposed to be fun and don’t let a bad round get into your head. Good luck.
when u go out practising, concentrate on the areas u need to practise. good luck
Stick with it, and more importantly be positive. Think about the fairway, not the rough, trees, and lakes. Remember there is plenty of room in the fairway for your ball. Same thing with the green. When putting make sure you are realistic with yourself, but always remember you can make your putt. Don’t worry about other players they have there own game. these are not easy things to do so challenge yourself and remember why your out there to have fun. It gets easier if you keep positive and will become natural again if you keep it up.
Try to make the most of your mistakes. When I’m hitting poorly, I’m usually hitting big hooks. I try to compensate by aiming more left off the tee (I’m left-handed). If I’m finding that I’m always coming up short on approaches, I try to make a game out of getting close enough for a short putt. Takes the "I can’t believe I did that" mentality out, while giving me something positive to focus on.
Enjoy the scenery and the company you are with and the fact that you are alive and able to be on a golf course.
don’t get pissed off if you have a bad shot. That is REALLY tough not to do,
because if your pissed, and you’ll try and hit the ball really hard, then that’ll screw you up.
