Playing a 2 day golf Tourney… need some tips?

I have a 4 round tourney next weekend, I’m looking for some tips to make sure I do well.

BTW, my drive has been acting up, what thought processes do you use to make sure you’re sharp each shot of each round?

Do not try to obliterate it off the tee. Slow it down, swing easy.

Spend as much time working on your short game as you can.

72 holes is a lot of golf. If you get in trouble don’t try a hero shot…take your medicine and move on (don’t make a small problem into a giant one).

Stay hydrated…no alcohol. Take a snack, (sandwich, protein bar, etc)
One shot at a time…leave the last shot, out of your mind, whether good or bad.
Relax…don’t let a bad shot ruin your round. Stay focused.
    Most important…HAVE FUN!

what i do is i try to see through my "third eye." imagine there is an eye on the side of your head looking at the target. explanation- look at your target during your preshot routine. burn it into your memory. while you hit your shot, think only of the image of your target. not anything else. especially not swing mechanics. basically see the target through your "third eye" and after the shot is over, just accept it and move on. dont look at the scoreboard, just play. remember you are your own best friend or worst enemy out there. have fun.

If you have never played a tournament before, you will be hyped at the experience and very nervous. The only advice required is to be in the moment for the shot you are about to make. You cannot think about your swing, your score or your opponents. Your job is to perform as best you can with the knowledge you possess. Do the same with the next shot and the next and the next until you have finished.

Drink lots of water, stay away from the soda, eat some protein bars/energy bars, and fruits.

Don’t let a crappy drive ruin the rest of that hole.
Practice putting. Because, I’m telling you, if you hit a crappy drive and second/third shot, and putt good, you can still make par.

About the drive, make sure to keep your head down, bend you knees, turn your hips while swinging, keep that pendulum motion, and rotate your wrists, and you’ll be just fine!

    Good Luck :)

some quick driver advice: if you have time to hit some on the range first, hit your 3 wood off the deck or tee it it up slightly. then practice a nice fluid, controlled and balanced swing. the 3wood at times can involve more concentration for people because there is a smaller margin for error for over swinging. so it will help you swing smoothly with out overexerting yourself. after you have hit some for a little bit, then take that same feeling and flow to your swing and hit the driver. you’ll notice your more controlled, and confident.

some people think because they have a 460cc driver head they can just try to tee it up high and let it fly, but this brings in too many swing flaws. who knows you may find that you end up hitting it farther with your properly swung 3wood, happens for me at times.

    Sharp for each shot?
Greg Norman said that he and several others use a positive affirmation as they address the ball
"Grip right", "Business as usual", "follow through" or whatever helps you avoid habitual problems.
Coffee and Ginseng drink helps with alertness, but too much sugar only gives a quick boost, and drains you after that. Natural sugars in fruit help (Tiger Woods has an apple)

If your emotions are getting out of hand because of the score – LIE to yourself.
Turn, "Wow, I could win this!" to "I am 3 shots behind and need to stay steady"
If you just double boogied and are beating yourself up, lie and say to yourself, "I’m just 3 off the leader and going great"

Apart from that … practise and make the last approach shot to the green the best shot each hole
