i taught myself how to play golf, although i got some tips throughout my game from my dad but he’s not that good. I’m really good for a 13 year old that taught himself golf because right now i can hit a little over 200 yards. but im not always consistent, any tips?
practice and lessons
Just got to be totally focus on every single shot
Golf range, golf range, golf range. Hit every club in your bag. Play bad lies good lies and impossible lies. Always have a target. The most important thing is to stay relaxed. Tension will ruin a golf shot. Keep your hands relaxed and your arms will stay that way. Amazing how crisp your shots will be when you remain at ease. Good luck!!!
I’m 67 years old…so I’ve been playing for over 50 years…and I still try to swing too hard sometimes.
I know better, but it’s a bad habit.
Pros hardly ever swing 100%. Don’t swing as hard as you can, unless your name is Arnold Palmer.
Swing must be under control, to control your shot.Remembering this, helps me the most.
Practice until you own your swing. Try yoga or pilates or meditating that way you will listen better when the ball is talking to you on the practice range!!!
It sounds like you are ready for some golf lessons from a professional. Check around for Junior Golf programs in your area. Often juniors can get free or discounted instruction and playing privileges at area courses. Although every part of the game is important, remember that having a great short game (chipping, pitching, bunkers, and putting) is just as important, if not more than the long shots. Make your practice time fun by creating challenges and games for yourself.
Good Luck!
